A really "sweet" location...
Author: CGTower

Sorry, I could not resist the title, given this is "Sugar Street" interlocking.

CF&E/NS run through train 16E crosses the former DT&I main and passes the PRR position light signals at Sugar Street in Lima, Ohio. Once home to a tower, Sugar Street has long been an automatic interlocking.

The connection track is used regularly by CF&E moves to the I&O yard.

Hard to say exactly, some days they will run 3 or so, others not a one...most if not all have been eastbounds.

NS has contracted with CFE to run six trains/day with no restrictions on type of train or direction. Of course in addition there will be CFE's own movements. Altho many different kinds of trains have been operating, the main focus will be on unit trains, especially oil and ethanol.

Right now, NS is upgrading parts of CFE, so the number and type of trains running now may be different from what will be seen after the work is finished.

I'm not sure the last day there wasn't a single NS train ran, but it hasn't been in the last week. Today (3-18)there has been 5 NS trains to come east out of Fort Wayne. There is an online scanner feed that covers the CF&E(161.175)on broadcastify....
