Does CSX or NS use the SD70MACs on heavy manifest trains??

NS doesn't have any SD70MAC's, but they do use their SD80MAC's very rarely on manifests. Its possible, but you're more likely to find them in coal service. Every now and then a pair or two gets out on the high iron for a little while.

CSX uses their 70MAC's, 80MAC's, AC44's, and AC60's in manifest service quite frequently. While the GE's tend to remain on intermodals and coal trains in most cases, they do get on regular manifests. The 70 and 80MAC's are on the general freights all the time...

Here in NC (on the old Clinchfield), the AC4400s have practically taken over on coal trains, grain trains, manifests, even some of the locals. Somebody send us some MACS - PLEEEASE! :-)

CSX train Q632 (Cincinnati Oh to Russell Ky) often has upto 12 units noless than 6 and most if not all are AC's...........Later Chris

...CSX - If it runs, we'll use it! I've even seen them on some of their "passenger" train movements, work (ballast) trains, etc.

CSX, in Indiana and Ohio at least, likes to use pairs of AC60's (and former AC60's) on intermodals.

I've heard AC44s recently on CSX, Q640 and 641 recently (Buffalo/Cumberland via Parma OH)

One of the lowliest trains around here. Sunday they had 2 SD40-2's and 4 cars. I guess Garrett didn't have an old AC60 err dash 6, handy.

They have had AC's before.

Up here in Jersey CSX usually runs Dash 8's (And sometimes an occasional AC60 or AC44) on the manifests. The mail trains (Q-173,174,175,176) usually get 2 AC6000's and a Dash 8.
