Third Track on Trenton Line
Author: EdP

These pictures were taken today from the front of a train of the new cars traveling northbound. Shown is the installation of the third track on the west side of the right of way. Most of the track is in place and at least one crossing is complete. On the south end they are still preparing the sub-grade. This appears to be about a half mile at most. All new track except for the last 300' at Yardley has concrete ties. In West Trenton they were working to removed a support pole for the catenary for the eastern most yard track. That pole supported one end of the catenary that spanned the entire yard. A new cantilever brace had been installed to support that end of the beam. Othercatenary poles have been removed and new poles have been installed. It appears that the new CSX main track will pass the east side of the yard. Lots of progress being made.

Will Septa still dispatch all 3 mains? Will CSXT still own the entire right of way?

Thank you in advance.

in Pennsylvania on Septa's West Trenton (former Reading RR New York Line/CR Trenton Line) between Langhorne (actually Woodbourne where the former PRR/PC/CR Trenton Cutoff) now NS Morrisville Line bridges Septa's West Trenton Line and Yardley ...

PTC issues aside, CSX becomes master of their own destiny here ....... if they continue to let Q409, Q418 and Q300 work Woodbourne Yard for hours at a time while through freights wait at TRENT, NESH or BERRY  ....... they have solved absolutely nothing in terms of efficiency.

Some CSX freights will occasionally wait at MEAD (just south of Manville NJ) for a considerable length of time, too. I'm guessing the mostly single track line north of Ewing doesn't offer enough capacity for passing.

Current SEPTA interface not withstanding .... the CSX dispatching of this line leaves much to be desired.
