Some pics from the Macungie, PA trackside park....
Author: dwi189

On my way down to Harpers Ferry on Sunday, I stopped off at the Macungie park located adjacent to the NS Reading Line for a few hours of railfanning.....A Westbound 'all day 11J' rolls through Macungie....Dave W

And finally......A few more pics of the park....The best unobstructed views of the railroad are from the gazebo and parking lot....Parking lot is seen in Pic 1 11J shot....
I was there from 8AM until 11AM and saw 4 trains....I would have seen a fifth train, but hunger got the best of me and I stopped for Drive through McDonalds Breakfast upon arriving in the area and heard train horns while I was pulling up to the drive thru window......Dave Williams

Murphy law, trains will run 5 minutes after you leave. That is why I pack a cooler and have snacks at the ready. Nice looking park. Looks like some cover from the rain, that's great.

This was my first time to the park.....I have been to Macungie a few times before....way back in the early 1990's for the June Antique truck shows.......They reconfigured Route 100 onto a 4 lane bypass since then.....I didn't recognize things the way they changed on 100.....Dave W.

Be sure to stop back when the flower garden is in full bloom!  Very nice!

A neat place and a good line to railfan on.   If you don't bring food be sure to check out the Buckeye Tavern in Macungie or the Alburtis Tavern in nearby Alburtis.  The Alburtis Tavern is right next to the NS main and offers patio seating.

Nice shots Dave! Macungie is a great place to sit and enjoy trains rolling by.

Thanks, Dan.......I will definitely plan return trips.....Perhaps a weekend trip where I can lodge overnight and railfan from Bethlehem West to Wyomissing Junction for example......I have never railfanned that segment before....Dave W

Pictures of the garden in bloom. The sponsors periodically replant and update the vegetation

This is a really nice trackside park, and the community takes wonderful care of it

Feel free to reach out before for tips, there's a decent representation of TO members living in this area.
