I\'ve seen reports of the CP Rail derailment elsewhere. Anyone have info on the NS incident in Beaver County, PA? See items C and H below.

WTAE TV Channel 4 from Pittsburgh has a blurb on their website regarding the NS derailment. Spilled commodities included mayonaise, corn kernels, molasses, and plastic pellets.

Tankers containing alcohol and styrene also derailed but did not leak.

The news story says no determination has been made as to the cause of the derailment.

NS trains 16N and 16E derailed near Highland crossing("the cut")just about 1.5 miles west of CP Wood(we know this spot well nikonman!).16E derailed while passing the 16N,and the result was around 32 cars all total(I hear 16 from each train)on the ground.Appears to maybe be a mechanical failure on a car in the 16E a mile or so before the cut.No injuries and no haz mat spills, but only one track open as of this morning with many detours down the Cleveland Line and a couple up the Youngstown Line.21Q was to be the first train by this morning.
Real kicker is that I was in line for that 16N,but they marked me off(late Sat)for a rules class today(couldn\'t make a round trip and be rested)!Dodged the "big D"(as in derail)again...

I was on Amtrak 30 to DC from Cleveland. I went past the damage on the newly laid track. What a mess. It was pretty impressive. I heard on Amtrak about the two passing freights. Does anyone have pics of the site????
Thanks, ChessieGP9
