RR crossing gates aren't the only type of gate protection a driver can drive right through ... this is a video of a florida guy who was fumbling with his GPS while driving and went right through the down gate protection of a open draw bridge and did a Dukes of Hazard "General" jump over the open bridge span and landing bumper first on the other side of the draw bridge ...

> instead. Even the General wouldn't have made this one. Note the center of rotation of the spans. When one end of the spans (at the center of the bridge) go up, the other ends go down. That's what the SUV crashed into. Hmm ... higher speed might have gotten him back to level road, though like the Chargers used the t.v series (and other Hollywood productions), the SUV's front suspension would've collaped on landing and not been driviable afterward. * JB * |
