Are there any CP daylight freights scheduled on the north end of the RR? North of Whitehall, NY to or from Rouses Point, NY? What is their approximate times in this area? Thanks.

Subscribe to the yahoo group "dandh": http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dandh. Their members are constantly tracking and posting sightings of trains from all over the D&H.

I\'m sure if you scroll back through a few weeks of spottings you\'ll be able to put together a chart that\'ll show average times for trains passing through the north country.

Yeah, cause I fell off of charting it a while ago :P.

Actually, you have the following (odd north, even south):
415/214 Binghamton-Montreal Daily (has new symbol as of 2/3/03)
165/164 Philadelphia-Montreal three days a week
258/259 Saratoga-Montreal Daily (has new symbol as of 2/3/03)

Their times are relative, it really depends on traffic and how long it takes to get out of the yards (Saratoga or Montreal) or if they get stuck along the way.

415 is now 253, 214 is now 252, manifest traffic

164 and 165 remains same #
mixed intermodal and priority manifest

258 is now 250 (combined with ex-train 226 Toronto-Montréal to create a Toronto-Montréal -Saratoga run)
259 is now 251 (combined with ex-train 257 Montréal-Toronto to create a saratoga-Montréal-Toronto run); both manifest traffic.

These are generally good-sized trains. since sidings are scarse, you could expect the trains to move in southbound or northbound fleets. Amtrak\'s Adirondack also mess the operation. If lucky you could also catch a northbound phosphate unit train (751). Unfortunately, the oil unit trains that ran a few years ago are gone now.

(Thanks to Paul Hammond, and many other folks, who posted the new train numbers on the C-P-R@yahoogroups.com list).
