Anyone know what train numbers passed through Rocky Mount VA at 9:15am today (SB, car carriers) or NB at 12:15pm today (tank cars mostly)?

Just guessing here, but the southbound autorack train was most likely 272 and the northbound may have been local V74 from Payne Yard in Martinsville.

SB autorack would`ve been 272 and the NB would`ve been 65M empty ethanol.

Where on the Winston-Salem District do the ethanol trains originate and terminate?

The ethanol is coming from somewhere in the midwest and is interchanged to the Winston-Salem Southbound in Winston-Salem.  The empties would be returning north to Roanoke.

I believe the ethanol goes to Healing Springs, NC (no jokes about the name!) on the HPT&D where there is a large transload facility. Sometimes the ethanol comes from CSX at Wadesboro, sometimes from NS at Winston-Salem.
