Morning Passenger Extra
Author: Poker2662

I woke up yesterday morning to find the Tuscarawas River Valley filled with fog. It was a little chilly but the sun was slowly cutting through the fog, so I was really hoping for a train. Luckily not long after I turned on my scanner, I heard W&LE engine 101 get a trackwarrant to go east from Brewster at about 8am, but I didn't know what they might have with them. I set up for my shot alongside a bean field along Shepler Church Road on the west side of Bolivar, Ohio. The nearby MP142.6 defect detector said they only had eight axles and were going 45mph, so it had to be W&LE office car 1990 coming. The train emerged form the fog, I took about five shots, and they were gone in what seemed like just a couple seconds. They had about 20 employees and executives in the car, going east on what I believe was just a leisurely day checking out various parts of the W&LE system. They got back to Brewster early in the evening.

Info courtesy Chris Toth:

WE 1990 history =

Built by Pullman Standard in 1954 as Northern Pacific 493. Sold by BN to Amtrak in 1971 and became AMTK 3751. Renumbered by Amtrak in 1974 to AMTK 3353. Sold in 1982 to GTW and became GTW 15013. Later (late 1990's or early 2000's?) sold by CN to Bob Bixler of the Orrville Railroad Heritage Society at Orrville, Ohio and became RPCX 15013 with the name "Buckeye Lady". Bob regularly leased the car for use as a business car by the W&LE Railway. Following Bob's death in 2007, the car was acquired by the W&LE in 2008 and became WE 1990. After some repairs and upgrades it was repainted into its current D&RGW inspired paint scheme by the W&LE in 2010.
