What type of airhorns are on the Wheeling & Lake Erie GP 35\'s. Anyone have pics of these units & their airhorns. Thanks Kris

When originally received from NS, the former Southern Railway GP35\'s were equipped with either a Nathan M5R24 or Leslie S-5T-RF five-chime horn mounted on the centerline of the high short hood, just ahead (short hood front on these units) of the cab. In the late 90\'s, the W&LE began using Nathan K5LA-R34 five-chime horns for replacements on its locomotive fleet as needed. Many of the GP35\'s have received these replacement horns, including the two low hood units, Nos. 101 and 3045.

In late 2001, the W&LE started relocating the horns on its units to the top of the long hood between the dynamic brake and engine cooling fans. Not all units have had the horn relocated, but this work continues to be completed as the units are in the shop for regular maintenance.
