and closure of the trestle occurred. This is the route of the Amtrak City of New Orleans, which will again become the City of Jackson with a wonderful bus ride south of there. Apparently this ignited the fire. Looking at the still photos I have seen. It appears to me that the whole trestle will need to be replaced. Date: 02/13/16 11:57 Re: Fire on CN (IC) main line trestle in Louisiana Author: Out_Of_Service ANYTIME we worked on a bridge over water, besides all the nornal safety apparatuses applied, that used a welding process with open fire there was always a boat in the water with an occupant and fire firefighting apparatuses ... also plenty of water on the bridge in the work area for fire protection ... we never left the bridge until a thorough inspection of the bridge so as to not have a flare up after we left the area ...
