Eastern Railroad Discussion > Foggy Day at Westfield NY on CSX - May 1, 2016Date: 05/01/16 13:56 Foggy Day at Westfield NY on CSX - May 1, 2016 Author: train1275 Yesterday, April 30th was a rather nice day along the southern edge of Lake Erie in Western NY and Pennsylvania but I couldn't get into the photography mode even though the old NKP line hosted the NS Erie heritage unit eastbound on 22K. I simply watched it run east while bs-ing with the guys of the Lake Shore Historical Society at North East, PA and never pulled out the camera.
The weather report for today promised some more extreme weather such as heavy rain and thunderstorms and I thought that might be more enticing so off I went to the railfan picnic park in Westfield, NY. Unfortunately the weather reports were exaggerated and the day was only foggy with a misty rain. Oh well..... pulled out the camera anyway for the fun of it and grabbed a few shots. 1. CSX 29 leads an eastbound shortly after lunch. 2. Another eastbound slams through with UP 8562 leading a crude by rail movement. 3. The tankers pass the wet picnic tables in the foggy, misty rain. CSX 5342 and 7486 roll east with an intermodal train. CSX 7486 was built as Conrail 6042 27 years ago in March 1989.
6. Another eastbound with CSX 3003 leading passes the signals and approaches the crossing as the fog thickens later in the afternoon. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 05/01/16 14:10 by train1275. Date: 05/01/16 14:01 Re: Foggy Day at Westfield NY on CSX - May 1, 2016 Author: train1275 |
