Off Topic Bill Ackman Valeant investment
Author: elu34ch

A guest analyst on CNBC currently says the accounting methods misrepresent Valeant's balance sheet and potential ROI. This could have dire effects for Ackman's holdings if liquidation of Valeant or Pershing becomes necessary.

From Mr. Chanos' comment on Valeant, the actual value based on true asset value vs liability
might be zero! Hell of an investment there Bill!

A number of observers bellieve that Pershing's sale of its profitable CP position was necessary to finance client demands for return of their investments.

Other than CP, it's been a bad year for several hedge funds and private equity investors.

But, it's likely that Pershing and its bankers made a bundle on the NS position. Especially if they borrowed money to finance the original stake. If he was accumulating with options/futures when the shares were $70 to $75, he did fine on NS

And Pershing Square also has a significant stake in Air Products, which has run up quite nicely in the past two years... still, not a happy time to be an employee at Air Products, and of course, hedge fund investing is not for everyone...

Well if he made a profit and is licking his loins at his success making a profit on NS, thank god he did not get the railroad. No decent railroader wanted it. No logic and the CP's arguments for it were weak and without foundation. It was just a personal ego quest by two vey rich folks to undermine an already existing fine transortation system. It was all about personal gain, not good transportation to public and shippers. EHH, go back to FL and play with your horses and try to enjoy retirement, you have the $$ to do that. Ackman, Air Products is a very good area company and a rail shipper. Why try to mess it up too like CP-NS? Cannot you just enjoy many more dollars than other folks have at your age?
