Wow!  and here I thought Ed's (m1bprr) cowboy hat in the previous post was unusual.  Whatever rows your boat, I suppose.  I'm sure your visit to Pottstown will turn up some interesting train volumes.  Check out the local tourist line that runs up to Boyertown while there.  And if you are able, the Allentown & Auburn in Kutztown/Topton is worthwhile - they are accumulating quite a bit of old rolling stock.

That would be Penn Avenue, just east of the US 422 overpass in Wyomissing. The line from Harrisburg splits into a line which eventually goes to Allentown, and a line which goes to Philly.  The Dosi Dough bakery offers fine baked goods, clean rest rooms, and a very well placed parking lot

This is the place you want to go. Penn ave. off of Route 222 and 422.

Another neat spot is Macungie, PA which is about half an hour north on PA 100 from Pottstown.

The well-placed parking lot mentioned in a previous post is situated between a dentist office and a physical therapy facility and is trackside.  The building housing the physical therapy facility is shared with the bakery.  The coffee and baked goods there are outstanding.  There is a railfan park with a covered shelter trackside at Macungie.  Bathrooms, gas, and good food can be found at the Wawa market about 3/4 mile north of the crossing in Macungie.  The town of Alburtis, about 3 miles west of Macungie is also a good spot to see the action.  Pottstown does not see much rail activity compared to Reading, Alburtis, and Macungie.

Adding a little to these excellent posts...

Reading's layout means you'll have to select among several excellent options. At Wyomissing / Dosi Dough, you get everything heading from Harrisburg to both Allentown / NJ and Philly / NJ. But you give up the 38G/39G, Philly to Allentown, and you give up Reading and Northern.

Move up toward Macungie and Alburtis, you still give up R&N and you give up Harrisburg to Philly trains. Move east of Reading on the Philadelphia route, you give up Allentown / NJ.

Reading & Northern has  an active operation, as does East Penn, which operates GP-18 units. And, there's the Secret Valley line mentioned earlier.  And the quarry at Pottstown.

Sinking Spring just west of Reading is a neat place to hang out.  The East Penn RR joins the NS main there.  There's a trackside eatery called the Railroad House where you can eat on the patio and watch the action on the NS.

The quarry is in Birsboro which is between Pottstown and Reading, it is an interesting operation if you like an SD38 with a face.
