A Brief Look At A South Jersey Short Line (ALCOS)
Author: Out_Of_Service

this is the destination in Pleasantville,NJ for the NS 62X stone trains loaded out of Dyers Quarry located on the former Reading RR bypass aka "Turkey Path" that scoots on the outskirts around the city of Reading ...the SRNJ crew is dumping 25 cars they brought down from Winslow of a 50 car unit stone train that was delivered to the short line in Winslow,NJ by NS ... back when we were rehabbing the AC Line in the late 80s SRNJ would run the entire 50-60 unit train to Pleasantville ... today's SRNJ delivers the train in 2 cuts in 2 days ... the trains run with one unit for the sb moves and 2 units on the rear ... at Griff just outside AC SRNJ's Pleasantville the train reverses off the NJT AC Line onto a stiff grade for the track to bridge the AC Expressway ... the crews use to shove the loads over the bridge until the train derailed on the bridge over the toll road hwy a few years ago so now they the pull the loads over the bridge for better control of the train ...

Photos #1&2: shows the SRNJ train with 1/2 of the 25 car train in the Tri-County AE Stone facility dumping stone ...

Photo #3: shows a lone unit on the south end of the other 1/2 of the 25 car train left on trackage that was the former Atlantic City 3rd rail electrified mainline of the pre P-RSL "West Jrsey and Seashore RR" from Newfield where it connected to the WJ&S Cape May mainline out of Camden also 3rd rail electrified to Millville ...

Photo #4: this is the opposite end of photo #3 with the train on the Pleasantville Industrial ... the track to the left is the 1/2 mile Cambria Industrain and leads to the facility in photos 1&2 ...

EDIT: AlLCOs is kind of a misrepresentation ...MLWs would be more correct ...
