Eastern Railroad Discussion > ALCO HH660 Spotted at EJ&E YardDate: 07/31/03 06:07 ALCO HH660 Spotted at EJ&E Yard Author: Phil As viewed from an eb CSX train this morning, Relco ALCO HH660 #601 has been spotted at EJ&Es Kirk yard. Its sitting next to the hump and will be best viewed in the afternoon. Does anybody know the history of this particular ALCO loco?
Phil Date: 07/31/03 07:38 Re: ALCO HH660 Spotted at EJ&E Yard Author: K8DTI It is a former Milwaukee Road unit, built in 1939. For the past 20 or so years it has worked at a grain elevator in Troy, Ohio. They recently acquired a new track mobile, so 601 is being returned to Relco. I believe Trains Magazine did a feature on the 601 in the same issue they highlighted the restoration on Milwaukee 261. They commented on how the 601 was several years older than 261.
