VRE Manassas, VA Aerial
Author: cinder

It's 2:38 pm on Tuesday, October 25 and VRE #325 has just arrived before discharging passengers at the end-of-the-line near the Manassas, VA airport.  Despite three expansions over the 24 years since 1992, parking continues to be an issue during the middle of the week.

Rough count: 900 vehicles in the parking lots.

Even with all those cars off I 95, and all the others VRE express station lots being stuffed or over stuffed, I 95 is still often
backed up from south of Fredricksburg all the way into DC.

I now take Amtrak from Norfolk or Richmond to get to DC

People headed to DC from south of Richmond have the option of VA 288 to I-64 West to US 522 to US 15-29 to I-66 East. When I-95 is congested, the detour takes no longer and is far more enjoyable.
