Eastern Railroad Discussion > NS hauling AVR and SWP power on the ConemaughDate: 12/02/16 08:44 NS hauling AVR and SWP power on the Conemaugh Author: woytek Hey all. I was on my way home from an appointment this morning and heard a train coming east into Harmarville on the Conemaugh. I was headed that way anyway, and was surprised to see behind the two NS lead units a long string of SWP and AVR power in fresh paint (the last AVR unit so fresh that the stencil was still covered in plastic). I beat the train into Creighton and pulled into the industrial/maintenance siding near the Air Products and former Pitt Penn Oil plants and grabbed a quick video on my cell phone.
I was surprised to see these units headed east on the Conemaugh. I'm guessing they are headed to interchange with the SWP in the Greensburg area, but I'm not sure. I was surprised they didn't drop the AVR units at Island Ave. or on the CSX sub they operate (I always forget.. is that the P&W sub?). Um, give me a few minutes and I'll figure out how to post it here.

JW Date: 12/02/16 08:47 Re: NS hauling AVR and SWP power on the Conemaugh Author: woytek Forgive my ignorance, but what happens with them in Delmarva area?
Date: 12/02/16 08:49 Re: NS hauling AVR and SWP power on the Conemaugh Author: woytek OK.. Now here's the video.. I had to download from YouTube after I sent it from my phone, so the quality is likely blech. Still, fun to see..

Date: 12/04/16 09:03 Re: NS hauling AVR and SWP power on the Conemaugh Author: dcorreia I though they would be lettered for DCL or something like that.
Date: 12/04/16 14:24 Re: NS hauling AVR and SWP power on the Conemaugh Author: AVR3001 The power for DCR will be three SD40-2s DCR 3502, 3505 and 3506; two GP38-2s DCR 2501 and 2502; and six MP15ACs DCR 1555, 1560, 1561, 1562, 1563 and 1564. The AVR and SWP power is on loan until the DCR power arrives.
Date: 12/05/16 11:06 Re: NS hauling AVR and SWP power on the Conemaugh Author: dcorreia MP15AC? Where are these going to be used? At Harrington? NS just used SD40-2's for yard switching.
Date: 12/05/16 12:28 Re: NS hauling AVR and SWP power on the Conemaugh Author: ChessieSystem Harrington, and many local jobs have been worked with whatever NS happens to send south.
The MP15's will fit in well on the Delmarva. JW Date: 12/07/16 16:54 Re: NS hauling AVR and SWP power on the Conemaugh Author: AVR3001 The MP15ACs will be assigned two to the Dover local (DO-1), two to the the Seaford local (SE-1) and two to the Frankford local (HA-3); the two GP38-2s to the Delmar local (DE-1); and the three SD40-2s to the Harrington - Clayton road job (HA-1) and the Harrington - Delmar road job (HA-2).
