Eastern Railroad Discussion > RNCX F59PH 18542 at Enola todayDate: 12/03/16 15:09 RNCX F59PH 18542 at Enola today Author: ns2557 OK, Found out this is North Carolina Dept of Transporation, ex GO Transit 542, which was in Raleigh NC earlier in November this year. Tho it's not the greatest shot, it served my purpose well, (trying to find out what it was, my eyes ain't as good as they once were). Anyone know where it's off too? Kinda a surprise today while driving by the yard. TIA Ben

Date: 12/03/16 16:09 Re: RNCX F59PH 18542 at Enola today Author: nsrlink It's waybilled to Juniata. Juniata is already in the process of rebuilding other similar ex-GO engines for NCDOT. Some will be cab control cars, some will have engines. Some photos of the rebuilds in progress are on Altoonaworks.info. IIRC, NCDOT bought 7 of those things for rebuild.

For what ever reason, they only took one F59, the other headed North Friday night. Going to Altoona for conversion into cab cars.

The wye in Raleigh is OOS also, but that's temporary because of construction of the new passenger station.
I believe the split was 5 cab control cars and 2 rebuilt locomotives, but that may have changed. |
