New Perspective on Ten Bridge

Tried a new spot just south of the bridge yesterday in the Chattanooga Riverpark and was able to get this one.  I kind of liked how it looked like the stairs were going straight to the locomotive.

What purpose do the steps provide?  I saw steps like this near Vermilion Ohio a few years ago, upon climbing them I was on the ROW. Nice picture.

These steps also lead directly to the ROW.  Because the embankment is so steep and loose, my guess is that they are a safe way down to ground level if a crew outlawed or otherwise needed to leave the train.

You're probably correct.  This gave me the incentive to find the 3 I took in Vermilion.

Maybe the steps are there for railfans to access the track for photos.

Tenbridge is a regular crew change location, hence the proper, albeit steep, access to trackside.  It is on the south approach (Chattanooga side of the river)...nearly on the bridge itself.
