But I heard crews mention it was Christmas day and the day after. Is this true? I hope it is so that crews and re-crews of huge manifest trains are not kept away from their personal lives by tiny intermodal trains of 10-50 boxes that happens so often here.

I'm glad to see the CSX employees I see and know get a little bit of time off. Traffic really slacks off after the holidays; always has. I do not even see any rush to run that much over New Year's. Most of the 'sacred' UPS biz will be returns of stuff folks didn't want.
