FEC parent to be purchased?
Author: Lackawanna484

Multiple reports say that the Florida East Coast Rail's parent Fortress Investment Group will be purchased by SoftBank, the Japanese investment firm.  Purchase price is $8.08.  FIG will continue to operate as an independent unit of SoftBank,, and will have a bigger check book to put together deals.

I woundn't expect any immediate changes at FEC

At that price, I should have bought the railroad! I could have afforded at least $10.

You could buy a happy hour  beer at the Pelican Cafe in Stuart with the remainder, and watch your trains roll by...

Indeed, I had a great lunch there a couple of years ago after chasing #109 from Sebastian to Stuart. Got to listen to people at a nearby table complain to each other for half an hour about how high-speed rail will screw boaters on the St. Lucie River. I really enjoyed the food and drinks and setting, though. It helped me kill a good chunk of the early-afternoon dead time between #109 and #202.
