Eastern Railroad Discussion > Trenton Line's Belle Mead station

With the circus train scheduled to make a run up CSX's Trenton Line on Tuesday I wanted to scout out a few potential sites to photograph it. One of those locations was the former Reading station in Belle Mead (NJ). Sad to see that evidently the elements and vandals continue to do quite a number on the station and other building on where the northbound tracks once were.

It looks like CSX has been taking good care of the right of way, lots of fresh ballast.  I don't see any signs of a second track, though.

Worse shape than I thought. I can only see the peak of the roof from US206.

Second track ran in front of the far structure, now it's a maintainer's road.

There were a lot more old ties piled up to the left of the station.

I had thought CSX was planning to extend the current siding serving the shippers off Hllsborough Road south to the 206 crossing area. On the one time second main track right of way.

I go back and forth to Trenton about once a month and parallel the line from BelleMead southwest from here and the line has had an extensive rebuild over the last year.  New signals too.

Actually saw a train at the station today on my way back to the office.  But no camera and can't stop when in the county car.

CSX sometimes trains in the late morning, early afternoon. I used to see a sb in the siding at Manville, waiting on a northbound around lunch time.
