W&LE Visits 84 Lumber
Author: jmbreitigan

I had some business in Bridgeville, PA. on Feb 13th. The sun was going to come out and the mostly cloudy weather was going to improve. I figured I would take my camera bag and scanner with me and hope something would be moving on the Rook Subdivision near Bridgeville. As luck would have it I heard that lite power would be coming out from Rook yard to pick up an empty center-beam car at 84 Lumber just outside Bridgeville off Millers Run road. I was able to get a few pictures.

1. W&LE #6993 & #3068 glide to a stop and the conductor is getting ready to open the gate.

2. After cutting #6993 away, it heads down the short siding.

3. Hooked up to the center-beam car and ready to pull away.

One more picture..................

4. I am now down by Millers Run road as they are getting ready to head back to Rook yard.

Thanks for taking a look, John

I know where that is- thanks to you! Nice shots. Should be plenty of power to get that car back to the yard...

Thanks for the pictures, it's good to see lumber yards using the rails.

Used to be every lumber yard had a spur, or access to a team track.

Welded rail from Rook to Mingo Junction. No more clickity clack of jointed rail.
