Looks beautiful!

Now I have a reason to return to the Lake Shore Railway Museum next time I go up to Erie.  The Chessie System 8272, a B30-7, will be in good company is the museum already has other General Electric diesels including a U-25B (New York Central) and a Dash 8-32B (Norfolk Southern).

It's a shame they can't do that for a heritage fleet of in service locomotives.  They did do a great job.  Oh well, we can only hope.

Now everyone that bitches that CSX won't do a heritage painted locomotive can quit griping... with this and 4617 being done, they can actually check off "heritage unit" off their list.  Just in time too, because this is probably the closest we will see to a heritage fleet...

On the other hand, I have a nasty feeling that the employee that released these photos before an official release is probably going to be searching for a new job tomorrow, just a gut feeling.

I'm guessing 4617 will come out in C&O blue and yellow and go to a museum?

The Facebook Groups' title is "I worked at the Huntington Locomotive Shops". Past tense, not present.

Just because the group's name is past tense doesn't mean some of the group members don't work there currently.

Oh no.  Does that museum have any kind of shelter?  Didn't GE repaint NYC 2500 for them and it then sat out in the weather to the point of now looking very rough?

Yes, the New York Central U25B 2500 was painted by GE Erie in 1992. "25 years ago" I agree the unit is looking a bit tattered , but not bad consider the weather of North East... The unit is going to be painted  this summer. Ryan M VP LSRHS.

When I saw it in 2015, the side of NYC 2500 which faced the sun looked rough, but the other side facing away from sun looked decent.

Is 8272 still in WV or did it already go to North East?
