Large Backhoe By Berea Ohio Tower Today With Photos
Author: cornerfieldhobby

Ok, this morning I just turned on the Berea Railcam and first thing I see is a large backhoe just sitting to the west of Berea Tower. Does this mean the end of the tower real soon or is it just parked there? I'll tell you, once they take this tower down, it will be emotional for me as when I was a kid my dad took me there a lot to see trains and I always thought the Berea Tower was very cool because it adds to the photos and video or just watching the trains pass. Anyway, maybe it won't come down, but I find it weird how last week there was a semi truck and trailer backed up to the tower and they were loading the truck with items from the tower. I updated my topic with photos I took using my camera into my computer screen so you can see what I'm talking about.

Tower is coming down.....just a matter of time. Will it be NS or mother nature?  A non-occupied/maintained building, such as this, poses a safety hazard to workers as well as equipment.  Last I checked, the company didn't care how it looks in your photos.

We all have memories of the place.  Now you can make new ones without it there.

BTW - just go ask for a brick when it falls.  Put it in your garden, now you will always have a piece of history.

Berea is a great place to visit and watch trains.  I used to like going there, however as of late, I can't stand to be around the ones who insist on walking the tracks, throwing rocks and who are just plain disrespectful of others and property.  I do say things when I see it, but that only goes so far in today's world.  Ultimately it will be the railfans fault when the railroad and restaurant put up the fence by the parking lot.  All will be punished for just a few individuals actions.

Sorry to see it go, when/if it does.

I believe they have been doing work in the area on the right of away.

WLE2679 is correct.
They have been working all along the right of way heading west of CP 194.
Looks like they are cleaning ditches.

Ok, I just wanted to ask. Sorry if I asked last year. I just wanted to ask since I seen a large backhoe next to the Berea tower. But yes, I've watched the Berea Railcam and behind or to the left side of the camera have been loud grinding sounds, backhoe sounds. So yes your probably right.
