Southern Vacation: Day 3, Family Line GP16's and More
Author: Ohiorailfan

Day 3 of my southern adventure starts at the Caldwell Railroad in Hickory, NC. The Caldwell runs 2 original Family Line GP16's and Tuesday is the best time to see them run. I caught them moving around in Hickory allowing a side by side shot of their GP16's.

Up next was a stop at Candor, NC for the Aberdeen Carolina and Western. I was able to find 4 of their SD40-2's and later moved onto West End, NC where the ACW keeps 6 GP40-2W's stored

The final stop of the day was CLNA at Wilson, NC. 3 of their painted GP9R's sit in the yard

Great photos, only two of those EMD RS1325's were ever built. Thanks for sharing!

Do they actually lay over like that on a nightly basis, or was this just luck to have them parked next to each other like this?
