Oh The Variety At Austell Junction
Author: NSSpike

With rain in the forecast for most of the day this past Sunday, Saturday was the ticket to head east to Austell Junction. And no way was anyone there disappointed at all.

#1 NS 22N (MEMPHIS, TN - ATLANTA, GA) “22 Nachos” train with the NS #7315, former UP #3641, leading as the train diverges to the run around track at the north Austell signal.

#2 NS 46Z (Mid-West Grain Load) Illinois Central #1037 SD70 in CN colors leads this loaded grain train south on the #1 main into Austell Junction.

#3 NS 50G (Mid-West Grain Load) southbound just past the Austell north signal on the #1 main.

#4 NS 220 (DALLAS, TX (KCS IDAAT)- ATLANTA, GA) with one of only a few SD70ACe units left in “as delivered GRAY” scheme, the #4029 leads this east bound stack off the Alabama East End District into Austell Junction.

#5 NS 295 (CHICAGO, IL (LANDERS) - JAX, FL (FEC) with the # 7139 GP60 leading this colorful stack southbound on the run around track out of Whitaker Yard by the Austell Box Board plant.

#6 NS 732 (PRB WYOMING - GP JULIETTE GEORGIA) with the NS #1174 SD70ACe leading as the train diverges to the run around track at the north Austell signal. This is a solid NS powered train with two head end and two DPU's applied.
NS #1174 NS #8148 with DPU's NS #8067 & NS #1013.

Great selection of well-done images. Number six on the NS rollercoaster track is my favorite.

NSSpike likes the Austell Box Board plant parking spot. He has many photos from that location.
