Eastern Railroad Discussion > Before and After: OHCRDate: 04/24/17 10:28 Before and After: OHCR Author: Poker2662 1) The Ohio Central Miller job with HLCX 8145 and OHCR 3324 lead a sizable train of loaded trash cars west by the old signal bridge at Custer west of Jewett, Ohio, on the afternoon of 3/22/15. This used to be the location of Custer tower and two crossover switches on the PRR Panhandle Sub. General Custer was born three miles north of here at New Rumley.
2) Ex-HLCX 8145, bought and repainted as OHCR 3490 late last year, leads the westbound loaded UCD coaltrain by the same signal bridge yesterday evening, 4/23/17. This train loads on the Cadiz branch just north of Cadiz and goes west to the Conesville AEP plant to unload. OHCR 3339 and 4024 were helping on the rear of this 44 car train. Burr Oak has been shut down for the past week after an employee was injured, so a couple extra trains were run to Cadiz. It's been several years since Nelms 2 coal has went to Conesville. OC used to run a 50 car coal train that would split in two for half to load at Nelms 1 and the other half at Nelms 2. NS sometimes loads at Nelms 2 but I'm not sure how often. The CSX trains from Nelms 2 go to a plant in Maryland somewhere whose name escapes me. Matt |
