Eastern Railroad Discussion > Some from the Altoona areaDate: 05/16/17 14:33 Some from the Altoona area Author: pennsy3750 I usually try not to start multiple threads at the same time, but I have time now while my daughter naps, so here goes.
In early April, I took a Sunday off work and took a quick road trip to Altoona. I got into town around 7pm Friday night, met up with an old friend, and then we adjourned to Mama Randazzo's on Broadway for dinner...which I definitely should have done frequently when I was in college in Altoona. Friday night was fairly low-key, so I got an early start saturday morning, and began the morning at Summerhill. The 263 signal bridge was one of my primary objectives for this trip, so I hung out for a while, catching several trains and a C-130. More in a minute... Date: 05/16/17 14:37 Re: Some from the Altoona area Author: pennsy3750 After getting my fill at Summerhill, I headed back east to shoot the Everett Railroad's 10am steam passenger trip.
While waiting for the next trip to leave Hollidaysburg, two helpers crews used two pair of veteran EMDs to shove what seemed like the world's longest string of storage cars into what's left of the yard at the former car shop. Once I wrapped up with the Everett RR, I headed back to the Slope. Middle pic is 25T westbound at Portage with a helper ahead. Last shot is M4G shoving east between MO and AR. 16N heads east through Tipton. Before all the experts chime in - no, this is not a permanently-blinding, end-of-life event for the crew. (As verified by my host, who is a crew member.) Juniata Shop turntable, early in the morning with the wide-angle lens. One more batch to go... Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 05/16/17 14:43 by pennsy3750. 20K hustles east through Tipton. 61N heads east through Mapleton. Thanks for looking! Date: 05/16/17 14:42 Re: Some from the Altoona area Author: easternrailvideos the EMD moving cars in Hollidaysburg was CB10/C40 local. Thats their normal power for that local.
