Nice trains and some unsettled weather; Central VA in a day!
Author: Railfan94

Started in Ruther Glen, moved to Richmond, and then made it back to Doswell to finish the day. It was a nice day for trains, and the weather put on quite a show toward the end of the day as well!

Nothing too interesting in Ruther Glen, so I'll skip to Richmond. First up was loaded grain train G753 headed up the hill past Main Street station with 150 loads of grain, and the "Helpers Ahead" so to speak. You're looking at the Y116 helpers, operating with the class leading D8-40CW #7649, renumbered from the #7669. In trail is a freshly painted CSX #8014 and two YN2 AC4400's.

After this guy headed up the hill, the trains unleashed in Fulton, with 2 westbounds and 2 eastbounds in a short period of time. First out of the yard was hopper train U110 with a quartet of YN3b GE's, seen here passing the old Indian and Lucky Strike factory in town.

Shortly after passing us, U110 meets loaded man N744 halfway out the Viaduct, making for a not to often seen meet of loads/empties.

After N744 cleared off the viaduct, U110 headed up the Buckingham Branch, seen here about to cross Hospital Street with his widecab GE quartet.

We got ahead of U110 at Doswell, and shot him, as well as an uninterestingly powered W207, empty coke train, coming across the diamond. First, though was manifest Q409, seen here thundering south with a monster train in tow.

The final freight of the evening was yet another coal train, this one being N740, passing the old RF&P/C&O depot and pounding the diamond as a pretty nasty looking storm skirts just a few miles to the north of town.

Hope All Enjoy!
