OK, well those are my photos. Just an FYI. Call the scrapyard. But you might want to call them and reserve one. I know the SD90MAC cabs up in Cresson go for $5000 a piece. Trying to get one shipped is a different story. I have no idea much much the place here in Altoona is charging for one.

Will your mom and/or dad let you put one of those in your back yard?

Yes, transportation will be tricky. When Cycle Systems in Roanoke was scrapping the NS C39-8's. I looked at buy a nose, cab and sub base assembly. Cash wasn't the issue, as they were looking at scrap value. Problem truly was transportation. The full assembly weighed somewhere in the neighborhood of 18,000 lbs. It could easily be loaded on a flatbed trailer at Cycle Systems and hauled to my house. You can conservatively figure flatbed freight at between $2.75 & $3.00 per mile for transportation, provided you get a drop deck flat to ensure that you have no DOT Overhead height issues. Double the cost if you have to get oversize permits.

That being said, your biggest cost will be unloading and final placement. You will need to rent a crane and operator to unload and place the cab, as well as the transportation costs for moving the crane to and from your placement.

So, that $5,000.00 cab will probably end up costing 4-5 times what you pay for it.

May I ask what you plan to do with the cab?
