The administration has nominated Ron Batory, former president of Conrail and BRC, as FRA Administrator.
If confirmed by the Senate, he would succeed Sarah Feinberg, Joe Szabo, and Joe Boardman as recent Administrators.

An EXCELLENT choice! It should also be pointed out, that Mr. Batory will be the FIRST FRA Administrator with actual railroad experience in more than 4 or 5 presidential administrations! What a novel idea, i.e. make the head of the FRA a person with actual RAILROAD EXPERIENCE.

I can't imagine a better choice. The talking heads that will undoubtedly start making comments about "the industry regulating itself" simply have no knowledge of the character of Ron Batory..

Great choice! Sara Fineberg didn't kn ow a thing about railroading and didn't even try to learn.

The sad thing in all of this is, the current administration has put fourth some 242 appointees, yet the Senate has only confirmed about 50, as of June 30! By comparison, both Obama and G.W.Bushhad had triple that amount confirmed by the same length of time in their respective administrations.

Top notch choice!

But not a manager. His claim to fame was his union leadership position.
Best remembered for the Amtrak Control Center named after him and his
proclamation that Chicago-St. Louis and Chicago-Detroit passenger routes
would all be 110 mph by 2014 ?
