The 317 passed the scanning at Cumberland with 20+ cars not showing on the Dispatchers paperwork and several cars out of order. They also struck a tree in Black Oak, MD requiring them to stop to inspect their leader.
The additional cars were the "Keyser Traffic" they picked up in Cumberland... This is also the train officials feel the trespasser fell off of in Cumberland. 2) Q317 arriving at Keyser 3) Pulling away from the signal at Keyser to make a 24 car set-off of cars for the Verso paper mill and Automated Packaging. Due to MOW workers using track #2 to access the area where Q317 hit a tree, Q316 will have to crossover at Piedmont to track #1 to continue east towards Cumberland.

2) Q316-10 eastbound on track #1 at Keymont, WV. As they arrive in Cumberland, this crew will discover the trespasser that officials believe fell from the Q317 several hours earlier. Grafton with a 2200 arrival Will get called East to Cumberland with a rested Cumberland to Grafton Frgt Pool crew then with P/U at Keyser and Terminate in Cumberland Q317 schedule effective 7/16 is 0230 departure from Cumberland with a CBL to Grafton Frgt Pool at Grafton currently there is an assigned crew (then one who brings Q316 from Parkersburg) assigned an on duty time of 1100.... now the new schedule shows a 1030 departure from Grafton SO something will be changeing rumors are the assigned job may go away (of course because it seems to be working)..... train works Brooklyn Jct and then on into Parkersburg with at 1930 arrival 2130 Depart at Parkersburg also conflicts wit the assigned crew Call time of 0030 so again assume something to change ..... scheduled into Russell at 0700 with an 0900 departure and Cincinnati is 1900 The current operation up until this latest train had the16 and 17 usually meeting at Lakin Siding between 5 and 7 in the AM so it will be intresteing to see what changes Date: 07/16/17 10:20 Re: Q316 & Q317 - 11 July 2017, w/ meet at Piedmont, WV Author: DTWilson deeck Wrote:

Last night Q317-16 got to Keyser around 2300, made their setoff, picked up a motor and departed. They also had a car to set off at Mountain Lake Park, MD on the "Icehouse" siding... Sounded like the railroad was in stop mode.

Only problem was the train was nowhere near Baltimore. It was sitting at Greenspring, WV........ and we found that out when we got to Baltimore. Misdirected crews were not uncommon. |
