Eastern Railroad Discussion > Another kid looses his leg in PhillyDate: 07/20/17 14:00 Another kid looses his leg in Philly Author: EdP Shortly after 5:05 p.m., the boy was struck by a slow-moving southbound CSX train near the 3600 block of Castor Avenue, said Chief Inspector Scott Small. The boy was conscious when he was taken by medics to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, where he was reported in critical condition. The medics took the boy’s severed leg with them to the hospital, Small said.
An engineer on another train witnessed the boy hopping away from the tracks on his remaining leg, Small said, adding that he did not know why the boy, who was with at least one friend and lives in the city, was in the track area. The CSX train continued traveling south, likely unaware that someone was hit, Small said. Date: 07/20/17 16:03 Re: Another kid looses his leg in Philly Author: Lackawanna484 Very sad story.
People run crossing gates, or climb through trains to save a minute or two. And suffer incredible pain for it. Teaching how to use it sure is

My doctor's son saw a FEC train down the line to his left one night. Far away, easy to beat the gates, which were down. Didn't see the northbound train, out of his line of sight to the right. Ended up as a hood ornament on an ES44, not pretty. People have been daring trains for centuries now. It's not the fault of video games or other tech. That's like saying "the music of my generation is better than yours." Make a better argument. I.E. all kids make bad decisions occasionally. Posted from iPhone Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/20/17 21:28 by MOW1996. It is as if all brain waves, logic, and common sense disappear when people are around railroad tracks.

Nobody realizes how fast it's going until it's on top of you. AND no one realizes the damage that can be done at 1mph. Posted from iPhone Date: 07/21/17 09:16 Re: Another kid looses his leg in Philly Author: bioyans HB90MACH Wrote:

A 14 year old kid tried to hop a slow moving CSX freight, missed, and had his leg severed. An engineer on a passing NJT Atlantic City line train witnessed the entire incident, including the kid hopping away on his remaining leg and bleeding profusely. The NJT crew was relieved of duty for safety reasons after having to witness such a gruesome event. |
