A new routing for FEC ?
Author: Lackawanna484

The Florida East Coast / Brightline saga continues with a revived idea. The regional planners are looking at a brand new rail line from Miami to South Bay thence up the South Central Florida line, eventually to Sebring.

The frequent openings of the Stuart bridge remain a hugely upsetting issue, and this is supposed to resolve part of the problem. (Yacht owners have a lot of clout.)

It doesn't address the huge cargo volume out of Fort Lauderdale or the more modest amount out of West Palm and Fort Pierce, though.

Great rail map though.

Yep. Yacht clubs and many of their members do have a lot of clout. Where I'm from, they're trying to scrap the historic Pere Marquette Black River bascule bridge in Port Huron. It's claimed to be the oldest of its type in the entire state and they just want to scrap it. It's one of the few iconic and historic landmarks left in Port Huron and is even used as a marker for cargo ships.
