CSX - south Alabama area receives "select site" honor
Author: Lackawanna484

CSX has a press release out, designating a large area near Bay Minnette AL as a select site on CSX. The location is on CSX's Mobile to Pensecola line, with properties that that have already met due diligence, land use, zoning etc standards.

Sounds like heads up marketing by CSX. Substantial labor force, good location, and active government support. I was interested to see that the boilerplate now includes wording that CSX connects with 240 short line railroads. I don't recall seeing that before in an industrial release.

Get in, get a position, wait for the news, sell to the Yankees, Germans, Japanese, etc.

Repeat as needed.

Being a CSX Select Site is nice, but, we have had one here in our region that has sat untouched for years...its all about the market place and the many other things that go into economic development site selection.

And then watch CSX downgrade the railroad, because EHH determined it is not used much......

Except that CSX is bending over backwards to discourage active government support by saying that they can't possibly handle the reinstatement of the Sunset to Florida. Instead of doing everything they can to stop expansion of Amtrak, CSX should realize it can be an opportunity to get funds for upgrading their railroad, and thereby attracting CSX business to this "select site" at little or no cost to CSX. Heads up, but not marketing. BSB

Didn't CSX offer a price to restore Amtrak service back in 2010?

To be fair, Amtrak doesn't seem to be pressing hard in the past 12 years...
