NS rack trains on the Winston Salem District
Author: CFI_85

This past weekend I was at the Walkertown auto distribution center in Walkertown, NC on the NS Winston Salem District. I saw two empty auto rack trains and was wondering if anyone could tell me of their symbols. The first had the NS 2614 on it and left sometime on August 12 since it was not there following morning. The next day on Sunday August 13th I saw the NS 8141 and NS 7571 tied down as the local crew was taking empties out of the facility. I'm guessing both trains headed north from here when then departed. Any help is appreciated.

The symbol for the empty rack trains out of Walkertown are usually 27V (Walkertown, NC - Princeton, IN). My guess would be that 2614 was on 27V-12 and 8141 was on 27V-13.

Just for info, the symbol for the inbound loaded train is 272 (Kansas City, MO - Walkertown, NC).
