SD90MACs where you'd least expect them...
Author: Alco251

...east of the Mississippi, but a bit to the north. Leased CIT SD90MACs lead a loaded ore train on Northshore Mining's private ore-hauling line, a few miles north of Silver Bay, Minnesota, on September 9, 2017. This is the former Reserve Mining Company railroad hauling raw taconite ore from the mine at Babbitt, MN to the pellet plant along the north shore of Lake Superior at Silver Bay.

Very nice, especially as they replaced a pair of AC4400CWs.

Silver Bay, Minnesota. That's a pretty impressive complex there.

I've never travelled west of Newberry in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. But there is a whole lot of country up there that I've missed seeing.

No these were built with, and still have the 4300hp 16V710 engine in them. No 265H engine versions exist as whole locomotives anymore. There may be a few stripped hulks lying in a scrapyard somewhere. The five unrebuilt locomotives shipped to Australia have been reengined with V16-710G engines
