Just received a e-mail that NKP 765

heading back to Ft. Wayne, Ind.

Route would be Cleveland - Bellevue - Fostoria - Ft. Wayne.

Why has the W&LE routing lost favor?

Not sure if 100% true, but heard from a usually reliable source is that W&LE will not let run any historical equipment (steam) or any excursions at this time.

If it was MY historical equipment, I would rather trust NS track and signals over Wheeling dark territory anyway. Not picking on the Wheeling, just my opinion. Their RR is fine for a secondary freight line. If the rumor above is true, probably a smart move by them.

W&LE rejected any operation by Orrville Railroad History Society about 24 months ago. Despite many years of operation with ORHS, W&LE turned its back and slammed the door. So turning away 765 fits into their pattern sadly.

Perhaps something to do with the derailment of passenger equipment in Bellevue 3 or 4 years ago? I don't know for sure, just asking.

Yes. There is a definite connection to that derailment. W&LE backed six empty passenger cars around a connecting track in Bellevue and the lighter weight passenger cars all derailed, between heavier freight cars, causing big damage.
