WNYP Driftwood Turn

Does the WNYP still run a Driftwood turn? What is their schedule out of Oleans, NY.

Thanks
Dave

Yes but they don't run on a schedule unlike the turn to Emporium. Basically, if you see them run to Driftwood during your visit, consider yourself lucky.

I caught it twice in nine days, once on Tuesday, October 3 and again on Thursday, October 12...

I don't believe it runs on a dedicated schedule anymore... Best advice I have if you're hunting it is to go to Olean on either a Tuesday or Thursday early in the morning, as it seems to run most likely on one of those days... Check in at the yard office and ask to sign a release and let them know you hope to get some photos; they might give you a quick rundown of what they're running that day...

If you don't get a Driftwood Turn, the run over to Salamanca and the B&P interchange apparently runs Monday-Friday, so you'll likely get Alco power moving somewhere... Trains only run east of Olean to Cuba as needed; nothing ran to Cuba either day I was there... Not sure of the schedule of turns down to Port Allegany or Farmers Valley; you may luck into one of them, too...

Good luck and happy Alco (or MLW) hunting!
