Eastern Railroad Discussion > Metropolitan Sup questionDate: 11/10/17 20:06 Metropolitan Sup question Author: Cumberland Did CSX's Metropolitan Sub ever contain any towers of any sort east of Brunswick, MD?
Matthew Date: 11/10/17 21:42 Re: Metropolitan Sup question Author: WM_1109 Good question. My references indicate that B&O had a tower at Boyd (DS), around mp 29, as recently as 1958. Don't know when it was decommissioned. That would've been the only one between Rhode Island Avenue (QN) and Brunswick (WB).

Date: 11/10/17 22:10 Re: Metropolitan Sup question Author: Cumberland Interesting. Why Boyds? It seems like it would have been more necessary in the closer D.C. suburbs, like Gaithersburg, where it once occupied a "Y" spur.

This page has some more information on DS Tower, including a low quality photo, reportedly from around 1958. http://www.trainweb.org/oldmainline/met7.htm -Ted |
