A brief article in the 11/8/17 USA Today mentions that a scrap-metal dealer has been dismantling part of an ex-Monon bridge, even though he did not obtain permission to do that. The bridge crosses the Grand Calumet River; according to the SPV atlas this is adjacent to the NS, ex-NKP bridge in the area, near the Illinois state line.

I've heard of other unauthorized dismantling in the past, especially in isolated locations where the property owner is not on site.
