The Babylon/Montauk line along the South Shore is totally passenger only. The "Lower" Montauk Branch, Long Island to Jamaica was leased to the NY&A. LIRR cannot use it without a NY&A pilot. It is freight only. Its signal system has been shut down. Most of the 2nd main track is a linear freight car yard. |
