Housatonic RR's MP 75 is near where?
Author: Pattenburg

Got this photograph that was taken back in July 2001 from a friend who asked me to identify its location. Near what town would the Housatonic RR's MP 75 be near?

Just a guess -- Danbury? I think Strates carnival did the Danbury State Fair. OTOH, they also do Pittsfield, MA (at the other end of HRRC).

Sorry to say that this is not Lee as mp 75 on the Housatonic is on single track just south of town. This picture shows the double track near the Fairgrounds at mp 75 near the end of the passing track west of Danbury.

Fairgrounds was also where the "NY brakeman" dropped off to ride back to Maybrook on another NYNH&H train.

Was the Fairgrounds mile marker based on the Danbury to Pittsfield route, or Maybrook to Hartford miles?

Edited to add, the MP 75 was based on the Maybrook to Hartford route.

The mileposts on the Maybrook Branch start with 0 at Campbell Hall (connection with Southern Tier) and end at 104.8 (Derby Jct.).
