With the CSX/L&I upgrade project pretty much done, anyone know what the current traffic levels are through Seymour Indiana these days? Possibly a breakdown of traffic numbers to/from Indianapolis vs to/from Cincinnati? I also saw something somewhere awhile back that indicated the traffic would primarily be northbound...is that still true now that sidings are in place?

On a related point, I'd also specifically like to know what the LIRC's current operating pattern is.

I can't actually answer your question but from observations, it seems that there are a lot more trains going north across the Ohio River at Louisville than there are southbound. I'm in the neighborhood of that bridge from time to time and I don't recall seeing a large train going south in quite awhile. I'm talking about 100 car trains.

Not counting locals, NS runs about 35 road trains a day through Cincinnati. There are a few more trains that originate / terminate at either Middletown or Sharonville (just north of Cincinnati) that don’t run through Cincinnati itself.

200, 215, 216, 229, 240, 241, 282, 295, 25A, 26Z

•autorack
288, 289
There are also occasional as-needed empty autorack trains through town.

The question had NOTHING to do with traffic in Cincinnati.

There's a couple Facebook groups that should be able to answer your question traffic levels around Seymour.

Indiana Railroads Bull Session Group

Looks like they are starting the construction of the new trestle over the Flat rock river here in Columbus, In. According to the news release they will be able to run heavier loads when it is complete. I thought they were extending a siding to the north as part of this project. I have only seen Csx northbound at this point at the rate of 4-5 a day. Mostly autorack 100+ car
