That is why The HU site is a joke, foamers and idiots post false information all the time.

If I were still an admin there, that "Cheshire Northern" imbecile would indeed be permanently banned. But the guy who owns the site kicked me out because I told users they should stop writing crap like "Great horn show" (irrelevant) and "caught me by surprise!" (who cares?) in their reports. I probably would have quit anyway once he added all the PRLX leasers and other chaff that clutter up the site. He and his troll-plagued site can go pound sand.

No, it's a false report with some BS about a (bogus) heritage-unit festival in Plymouth, Michigan. But if you believe it could be an honest report, I've got some prime south Florida real estate for sale...

Just a thought. It's become so watered down I don't look that close anymore.

We can all choose whether to look or not.
There's always people posting crap on the internet, no matter what your interest is.
In my case, I post on that site and will continue to check it.

It used to be a somewhat reliable website when it was just for heritage units, but when u add hundreds of more engines on there it got old real quick. Tracking NS SD70s?? Seriously? I know some people care, but where do they fall under heritage? Just my thoughts. I have my own ways of finding power

Would it make you happy if they changed the name to Noteworthy Units .com? I swear, somebody makes an honest effort to get information out to the public, and all you guys can do is bitch about it?

All reports of units being at Grand Rapids, MI have been removed (3:40 pm Eastern Standard Time).

They do have a very simple drop-down filter that lets you turn off everything that's not "heritage"...

I have reported several bad posts on HU. I think some of the problem is the drop-down menu for "location" causing errors via fat-fingering on someone's phone. May not all be intentional.

Re: Heritage Unit.Com Hoax

I’m often sceptical of HU posts unless there’s a history of posts for a locomotive on a specified train.

The addition of non-heritage units is annoying and getting worse, but I do use HU to check out what might be headed to my area (the ‘latest locations’ tool is useful to see information outside of my immediate area).

Besides TO and HU, what other tools have people found useful?

Thanks!
Dan

Either way, the issue is you don’t know which post to believe is to be true.

And listing fleets that number 50 or more makes for abundant wrong-number post opportunities, which were easily the most common screw-up when I was involved. Some idiots will just guess and explain, "I know I saw one, not sure which" or the equivalent; some won't even admit that much uncertainty.

I understand it's far from perfect, but does anybody else have a BETTER idea? Does anybody bother to check the sightings history for a unit? It's not THAT hard to get a pretty good idea which updates are probably good and which ones might be bad.

I have posted to Heritageunits.com under the name renegade388. Every single one of my posts were accurate to what I literally saw in fromt of me, either going by or waiting. I used that site just when I was in Berea a couple of weeks ago when the REading trailed on 18N that came up from fostoria! So yes I do use it to see whats out there, and what might be coming, especially if Im on the Chicago Line anywhere!

I'm not at all opposed to the SD70s being on there, but it does irk me that they flat-out refuse to put the C40-9s on that site, even after people keep asking them to...
