NS 9903 leading the NS 905 Geometry train during winterstorm Toby
Author: j-miller

Heard the Norfolk Southern dispatcher talking to a maintainer about a geometry train coming out of Enola,PA and running down the Port Road to Perryille,MD. So I never really caught the geometry train so I decided to brave the elements of winterstorm Toby to get some video and pics today.

any idea as to what those different colored light beams (yellow & red) are doing? By the way the NS 9320 was the same unit that was used when it came through central NJ back on March 15th.

Is that a green and red laser under the front truck of the geometry car? Looks neat in the snow, otherwise not visible.

Which way did it go on NEC or did it return up Port Road?

It's returning back up the Port Road as I type this and yes it had some type of green LED light under the one truck.

John, that's a nice video. Interesting weather as well as an uncommon railroad subject.

Precisely *where* did you capture that scene?

Here it is heading westbound on the Chicago Line 2/27 from Berea, Ohio around Noon. Yes it came from out of nowhere.
