Saturday - 07 April 2018 .... An overcast day but with trains running, The 6yr old wants to go....

1) Out the backdoor and not far from the end of the driveway, we catch Q316-05 eastbound at 21st. Bridge Rd., MD.

2) Just down the road, we catch Q316-05 at Dawson, MD.

3) Q316-05 eastbound on the single main crossing the Viaduct at Cumberland, MD

1) After stopping at CP Roy's for breakfast we catch G088-06 westbound at Rock Cut Rd. crossing near Corriganville, MD

2) Western Maryland Scenic Railroad's #501 westbound near Homewood Crossing....

3) At the 6yr. old's request we head up to Cash Valley Rd. crossing to catch the #501 again...

2) Helper Power B245-07 returning eastbound at the Rock Cut Rd. Crossing.

3) E743-06 westbound with 130 empty hoppers on the single main departing Cumberland, MD

1) E743-06 westbound at Bowling Green, MD.

2) N768-03 shoving their 65 car pick up out of the east yard at Keyser, WV

3) 317-07 westbound at Keyser, WV. with only 388 axles, once they set out the Mill traffic they will be under the tonnage limit for the Mountain so there will be no need for a east yard set-out.

Sunday - 08 April 2018

Sitting at the house we listen to Q317-08 calling signals on their way west out of Cumberland...first couple of times we don't hear the locomotive number but when they call Black Oak we catch BNSF #4522.... Time to go....

1) Q317-08 westbound arriving at Keyser, WV.

2) With only Paper mill to set out, Q317-08 has departed Keyser and we catch them westbound at Piedmont, WV

3) Since I have to take the 6yr old home to his mother, we stop and catch Q317-08 on 17-Mile Grade at the Crabtree Signal.

Where is CP Roy? I used to frequent Cumberland in the late 60's -80's when my Father in law ( a B&O conductor) was alive.
Is Mexico Farms tower still active?

I presume he is talking about Roy Rogers restaurant in Cumberland.

CP Roy's is the Local term for the Roy Rogers Restaurant beside the west end of the Cumberland yard. When the new restaurant was, it was turned 90 degrees so the dining room window looks out to the yard.... As for Mexico Farms Tower, it's closed.
