Location on the Monon
Author: bobwilcox

This shot was taken of a southbound Amtrack train just south of Bloomington, IN on the L&N(Monon) in the winter of 1977-78. Does anyone recognize the train or location?

Very nice. With the domes, I thinking Floridian.

I'm confident that this is a southbound at Taylor, the first siding south of Lafayette. Remains of building at far right are still there. County Road 550 South for reference.

That doesn't appear to be any location "just south" of Bloomington. When I was an undergrad at I.U., I used to hike a considerable distance south of Bloomington along the tracks, often going well south of Clear Creek. I would have remembered a significant looking structure like that depicted in the shot here. I am not certain, but I don't recall seeing any location like this between Bloomington and Bedford. Of course, that section went back to nature some time ago.
